Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-17

1. About these terms

Stockyard Events ("Stockyard", "we", "us") is an online service for horse shows and barrel racing, pole bending and roping events. It is operated by Stockyard LLC, PO Box 6408, Asheville, NC 28816.

These terms are an agreement between you and us. By creating an account, or by accepting these terms when we ask, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Stockyard.

Riders, parents and producers all agree to these same terms. Section 7 has extra terms that apply only when you run shows as a producer.

2. Who can have an account

You must be at least 18 to hold an account in your own name and agree to these terms.

A parent or legal guardian can add riders under 18 to their household and enter them in events. When you add a rider to your household, or accept these terms while managing household riders, you accept these terms on their behalf, confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian, and take responsibility for their use of Stockyard. When a household rider later gets a login of their own, they will be asked to accept these terms themselves.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate information, including your name, your riders' dates of birth (they place riders in age divisions) and your horses' details, and keep it current.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your login. Tell us right away at support@stockyardevents.com if you think someone else has used it.
  • One account per person. Do not share a login or create accounts for other people, except household riders as described in section 2.
  • A producer may create an account for a rider when they enter that rider at a show. That rider agrees to these terms when they first sign in.

4. What Stockyard does and does not do

Stockyard provides tools: entries, draws, times, results, payouts, points, payments, messages and records. Producers run their shows. We do not. We do not organize, sponsor, sanction, judge or supervise any event, and we are not present at shows. We do not control the arena, the ground, the facilities, the animals or the people there.

Sanctioning bodies (for example NBHA districts) set their own rules, memberships and points. Stockyard applies the settings a producer or association chooses. When the producer's or sanctioning body's rules and Stockyard's display differ, their rules decide.

5. Entering events

  • Your entry is with the producer of that show. The producer sets the classes, fees, draw, rules and refund policy.
  • Draws, times, placings, payouts and points are calculated from what the producer and their staff enter. If something is wrong, contact the producer. They can correct it, and corrected results replace earlier ones.
  • Results are official when the producer publishes them under their own rules.
  • Times, draws and results may be shown publicly on the show's pages, including your name, your horse's name and your runs.

6. Payments, subscriptions and refunds

  • Entry fees and show charges (stalls, RV hookups, merchandise, auctions) are paid to the producer. The price shown at checkout is what you pay. Card payments are handled by our payment processors on their own secure pages. Stockyard never sees or stores your full card number.
  • Refunds of entry fees and show charges follow the producer's policy. Ask the producer.
  • Paid plans (such as Pro and Business) renew automatically each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your billing settings, and you keep what you paid for until the end of the period. If a payment fails, we try once more. If that also fails, the plan's features pause until the card is updated. We do not refund partial periods unless the law requires it.
  • We may change plan prices. A new price applies from your next billing period after we tell you.

7. Extra terms for producers

If you run shows on Stockyard as a producer, you also agree that:

  • You are responsible for your shows: the facility, safety, staff, animals, rules, judging, timing, and the accuracy of everything you enter, including times, placings and payouts.
  • You publish accurate show information (dates, location, classes, fees, prize money and added money) and honor it.
  • You set and publish your refund policy, and you handle refunds for your shows.
  • Prize money, payouts and any taxes or tax reporting on them are your responsibility.
  • You follow the rules of any sanctioning body whose events you run.
  • You use riders' information only to run your shows and contact riders about them. You do not sell it or use it for unrelated marketing.
  • If you link a payment account (for example your own Stripe account), it is yours. You follow that provider's terms, and that provider, not Stockyard, holds and pays out your money.
  • You have the right to anything you upload (logos, photos, documents), and it does not break anyone else's rights.

8. Horses are dangerous

Riding, handling and being near horses carries a risk of serious injury and death, even when everyone is careful. You take part in equine events at your own risk. Stockyard is a software service and is not the sponsor of, or a professional at, any event.

WARNING: Under North Carolina law, an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting exclusively from the inherent risks of equine activities. Chapter 99E of the North Carolina General Statutes.

Producers may ask you to sign their own release or waiver. These terms do not replace it.

9. What you upload

You keep ownership of what you upload: photos, horse records, documents and messages. You give us permission to store, copy, resize and display it as needed to run Stockyard and show it to the people you share it with (for example a producer you entered with, or the public pages of a show). This permission ends when you delete it or your account, except for copies kept in backups for a limited time or where the law requires us to keep records.

Only upload what you have the right to share. Do not upload other people's private information.

10. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • use Stockyard to break the law or anyone's rights;
  • enter false information, impersonate anyone, or enter riders or horses without permission;
  • try to get into accounts or data that are not yours, or test, probe or overload our systems;
  • scrape or copy the service or its data in bulk;
  • harass other users or send spam.

11. Email and text messages

We email you about your account, entries, payments and security. These are part of the service. Text message alerts are optional and covered by our separate Text Message Terms. Reply STOP to stop them.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

13. Changes

We change and improve Stockyard over time and may add, change or remove features. We may update these terms. If we make a change that matters, we will ask you to accept the new version before you continue using your account.

14. Ending your account

You can ask us to close your account at any time at support@stockyardevents.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or does not pay what it owes. Results and records of shows you took part in may stay with those shows, because producers and sanctioning bodies rely on them.

15. Disclaimers

Stockyard is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it accurate and running, but we do not promise it will always be available, error free, or that results, payouts and points are free of mistakes made when they were entered. Do not rely on a text or email as your only notice of a draw time or result. Check the show.

16. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, lost profits, or anything that happens at a show. Our total liability for any claim about Stockyard is limited to the greater of $100 or what you paid us (not producers) in the 12 months before the claim.

17. Your responsibility to us

If you break these terms or the law, or a claim arises from a show you run as a producer, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from claims by others that result.

18. Law and disputes

North Carolina law governs these terms. Disputes go to the state or federal courts for Buncombe County, North Carolina, except that either of us may use small claims court.
